Testimonials

My husband and I feel extremely lucky and grateful to have had Lizzie as our guide
for 3 tours. Lizzie took us on one full day tour each of Ards and the Causeway and a
1/2 day tour of Belfast. It was a tour unlike any we have experienced in our many
years of travel because we got to meet and get a feel for the people who live in these
fascinatingly different places. She was able to share with us not just the sites but the
essence of what makes each of these regions unique. She, like the tour she
provides, is a gem. Lizzie is smart, caring, flexible, and fun. She quickly figured out
our interests and tailored the tour to meet those interests. We had a wonderful time
touring these parts of Ireland with Lizzie. If you have the opportunity don't miss
Northern Ireland and don't miss having Lizzie as your guide.

"Lizzie went above-and-beyond the call by researching and customizing a tour for us. Needless to say, we would not have found the dilapidated hut where my great grandmother was born in 1884. Lizzie also introduced us to Hillsborough Castle and a nice pub in the Village. Great Guide; Great Effort; Great Tour; Great Time Had By All. I wish I could award more stars."

My husband and I had the best full day tour of Giant's Causeway and
Derry/Londonderry with Lizzie. She was chock full of information and a joy to be with.
She was easy to understand, professional and really knew her way around. We
enjoyed her so much we booked her for a tour of Belfast the next day. We highly
recommend Lizzie Charley as a tour guide.

My husband and I had the most educational, informative and enjoyable half-day tour
of Belfast with Lizzie. We learned so much about the environment in Belfast and
Northern Ireland and came away with a much better understanding the "Troubles"
there. Lizzie went above and beyond the role of a tour guide and we would highly
recommend her as a tour guide.

My wife and I had the very great pleasure of using Lizzie Charley as our guide for our recent visit to Belfast, Northern Ireland.  We were extremely pleased with our experience and would definitely use Lizzie again on another tour of Belfast and the surrounding areas.
The primary purpose of our trip was ancestral genealogy to see locations where my wife’s family lived and worked in Belfast before emigrating to Canada.   We also wanted to see the Giant’s Causeway and some sites along the drive.  Lizzie delivered.
Prior to our tour we sent Lizzie the addresses we had for the family homes and businesses.  Many of the actual buildings were destroyed in World War 2.  But she took the information, mapped it out and pre-drove it to get the most efficient route and best places to stop.  She also located some other buildings from the era that might have been relevant to the family based on proximity.  The result was an efficient use of time and great stop locations.  My wife was able to get out, walk the area and get pictures of all the important sites.  We are very satisfied, and now have more memories and pictures to pass on.
We then went to Belfast castle for a quick tour and view overlooking many of the sites where the family lived.   Beautiful architecture and views of Belfast.  We found all of the cat artwork in the garden.
Following this, we travelled to the Giant’s Causeway.   Lizzie took us in and then along a route that made it easier to explore the causeway with spectacular views.  This was accompanied by an easier way to see more with less strenuous climbs.   Lizzie pointed specific features and special spots in the causeway for great pictures.  It was well worth the trip and her commentary made it more memorable and interesting.
We then had a terrific lunch at a local restaurant in the town nearby, and then drove back using a second scenic set of views and locations to see more of the area.  Ultimately, we ended up back at our cruise ship after a quick swing by the Titanic Museum and dry dock.
Important to note, Lizzie is qualified as a taxi driver.  This means Lizzie could use her own vehicle to take us on our tour.  We did not need to rent a car ourselves or use public transportation.   This is a real plus.
Lizzie was great to work with.  Great communication via email before the tour. And fun, energetic, entertaining and knowledgeable in person.   I give Lizzie my highest recommendation.   You can’t go wrong with her.

Lizzie was the best tour guide ever. She took us to all the places we requested and she had some suggestions, based on our interests, of other locations. She was very knowledgeable about the places with stories and historical facts. Lizzy was very kind, courteous, and friendly. She also packed in a big surprise that was fabulous. We highly recommend her with our 5 star rating.

On September 1st, 2024, my wife and I spent a day with Lizzie and had such a wonderful time!  Weeks leading up to our personal tour, Lizzie was in regular contact with us (despite the 8 hour time difference), emailing us with options on which locations/sites to visit, and asking us for input on what our interests were. From there Lizzie took care of everything and planned out our day on what locations we would travel to.  She explained what appropriate footwear and clothes to wear for the unpredictable weather and the locations we would be visiting.

On our tour date, Lizzie picked us up at our hotel lobby in the early morning and headed towards the coast where we enjoyed visits to Dunluce castle, Giants causeway, and a view of the Carrick-a-rede Rope bridge.   Lizzie’s familiarity with the coastal area allowed us to avoid most of the crowds/tourists/buses. Also, at each site, Lizzie provided lots of interesting historical background information.

For lunch, Lizzie arranged for a tour of a local family owned sheep farm where we first enjoyed a tasty lunch and then were given a behind the scenes personal tour of the farm.  We learned interesting facts about how the farm operates and how self sustainable they can be.  After lunch Lizzie took us to view the Kinbane castle ruins which is off the beaten path and very few tourists to be seen. The coast views from the castle remains were stunning. Lizzie had warned us ahead of time the walk to the castle was a bit steep - but it was well worth it.

Separate from the tour, Lizzie was also very helpful in offering us tips on different villages to visit/stay during our trip, how to book tickets for the Titanic museum, restaurants/pubs, and recommending a Derry Danders tour in Derry-Londonderry.

Throughout the process Lizzie was very helpful, informative, and friendly to work with. We highly recommend scheduling a personal day tour with Lizzie!

I had a fantastic morning with Lizzie on a walking tour starting at Belfast City Hall. She is a really nice person who has lived in Belfast her whole life and is extremely knowledgeable about the city. I learned so much in two hours from Lizzie. She answered all my random questions and had stories that she had heard from her dad, her granny and other family members. Later that afternoon I went to the Titanic exhibit and knew so much to give what I was seeing context as Lizzie had provided immense amounts of information in the morning. I really enjoyed meeting Lizzie and would highly recommend her kick start walking tour. Thank you, Lizzie! Lizzie is fabulous

OMG! Lizzie was absolutely fantastic! On top of her speaking fluent English, she was personable and so much fun. Her history of the city and her personal family connections to everything about Belfast and the Titanic made this tour even that much more interesting. Another reason why she rates even more than five stars is that we asked to be dropped off at the Titanic Museum instead of being taken back to the ship. She parked her car so she was able to actually walk us into the museum. When we found out that they were solidly booked, she went above and beyond what we booked her for and spent an additional hour or so showing us other places that had to do with the Titanic. I can honestly say our tour with Lizzie was the highlight of our cruise!!!

With Lizzie Charley our tours were customized and personal all the way. For the two of us, a couple in our 70s, her emails back and forth before the trip were responsive, thorough, and also full of her own suggestions. She listened to us, and we're glad we listened to her. We were all together in Belfast for a city tour, and then we used her guidance while we were on our own. We were with her for a very full day visiting the Antrim Coast, which included must-see spots, such as the Giant's Causeway, as well as places off the beaten path - lunch and a tour at a cousin's "green" goat farm, for example. Being with her was like visiting with extremely knowledgeable old friends, who showed you around their part of the country, sharing their current lives as well as the long, interesting history of the area. Even the tourist places came alive through her own family history and personal reflections.

"My family and I had a wonderful tour with Lizzie. We weren't exactly sure where to start or what to see, but Lizzie's knowledge and flexibility helped us sort out a great tour, which included a history of Belfast and seeing key important (and some fun) sights across the city. We found her to be easy to work with, highly flexible (when our scheduled slightly changed) and a delightful person with whom we enjoyed spending time. Highly recommend!! Fantastic tour with Lizzie!"

"Husband & myself booked Lizzie for the Ards Peninsula full day tour. We had an amazing time visiting places off the tourist track & meeting the locals in the little towns. Some of the listed attractions were closed because of the severe storm & winds the night before & Lizzie quickly adjusted the tour & gave us 1 of the best tours we have taken. Lizzie is very knowledgeable and friendly & easy to talk to. She grew up in the Belfast & it was interesting to her childhood stories. We Highly recommend Lizzie"

"Lizzie is a charming, lively lady, with a great knowledge of local people and the area. She went out of her way to communicate with me before the tour to make sure she was creating a program which was especially suited to my wishes. We had a wonderful day with her and I can't recommend her highly enough."

"My small group of five met Lizzy on Sunday, April 14, 2024 in front of the City Hall. Lizzy was a delight to tour with in the city of Belfast. She was so informative and we learned so much about the history of Belfast. We really enjoyed how her family was so intertwined and influential in the city and loved listening to her tell us proudly about her grandfather. Lizzy was so friendly and she made us feel so welcome. Even when the rain was pelting down on us, Lizzy continued to do her best to provide us with interesting stories about the city both past and present. She stayed with us when we ducked inside the nearest pub to get out of the rain. She extended her time with us well after the two hour tour was supposed to end. We were even able to ask her some questions the next day that helped us with our next adventure. We are so pleased we picked Lizzy and we know that others who tour with her will also have an amazing time with her. "

I booked a tour with Lizzie because a friend was visiting from Scotland, and I wanted to give her a real taste of N Ireland. We spent the morning in Belfast at St George’s Market, St Anne’s Cathedral and of course, Avoca. We met Lizzie at lunchtime, and she excelled in her knowledge taking us on a tour of central Belfast, including City Hall, the Cathedral quarter, the Titanic quarter, the peace walls, Stormont and the riverside. She was able to provide colourful anecdotes and facts that I had no idea of despite being from here! She never once sounded scripted, but rather knowledgeable and well researched and was able to answer all our random questions. A great tour and one that I have already recommended to other Belfast visitors.

I had the pleasure of a personal tour around Belfast, ably led by Liz Charley. With only two of us being in the group, it was a treat to have a guide who was able not only to inform and direct us but to also respond to our interests and questions. She very quickly and confidently was able to extend the tour information based on our interactions.

The design of the tour was hugely appealing. Liz was welcoming, knowledgeable and responsive. Her enthusiasm and insight into the history, culture, and opportunities the city offered was evident. I felt I made the most of my short time in the city because she brough the history and culture of Belfast to life for me. There was storytelling and humour as well as facts and information, details about events and other excursions or activities.

"Fantastic visit and fantastic customer service! Lizzie went out of her way to help us during a guided tour. I was on holiday from England, and visited with my elderly parents and my two children. The guided tours were not happening at that time, but Lizzie did not want us to miss out, so she kindly delivered a tour anyway!"

"The boys finished up with their Belfast tour and wanted to give extra stars for the amazing time. It sounds like you went above and beyond, spending extra time showing our son the political history and murals of west Belfast"
